Typography needs not only be legible and visible. Typography needs to be audible. Typography needs to be felt. Typography needs to be experienced. – Helmut Schmid

Typography is the graphic representation of language. And therefore is one of the most active elements in the cultural evolution of humanity. Typography’s value has risen in all artistic fields thanks to the works of graphic designers. In the 19th century, the typographers work was primarily used only in editorial projects. The convergence between art, typography and graphic design has definitely risen to all the subsequent generations of designers. There are the ones who take on and defend the necessary conversation between typography and graphic design such as the pioneers Paul Renner, Adrian Frutiger and Herb Lubalin, followed by Massimo Vignelli, Neville Brody, Erik Spiekermann and David Carson. This exhibition aims to show that this conversation is alive in contemporary Spanish design.
